Common Ground Community Garden Tour
With an ear to the ground from my work as a mental health social worker, I started our church's community garden, Common Ground, to address a growing need in our community for access to fresh produce in the food pantry setting, increased environmental awareness and education and to create a "third space" in the middle of our bustling suburban area. A place where teenagers, parents and community volunteers can join together over shared passions and purpose to grow food for those in need and cultivate community with our neighbors. We host free monthly gardening classes and are always looking for ways to "grow the good". Since 2015, we've grown over 1,200 lbs of food for local ministries serving the homeless and for the North Texas Food Bank. Here's a sneak peak behind the scenes of our little garden project!
